TOUR DE FLAGEY | 2010
POSTCARDS FROM THE FUTURE - a postcard from PLACE FLAGEY :
24th of October 2010, between 14:00 and 18:00, a 10 minute movement-sequence for 40 'actors' will be repeated during 4 hours.
In a trance-like state one and the same actions will happen over and over again while the rest of the world keeps turning.
With the postcard from Place Flagey, picturing 6 scenes of the choreography with respectively an adres mentioned,
people are invited to watch the performance-marathon from 6 different apartments, surrounding the square.
TOUR DE FLAGEY is part of POSTCARDS FROM THE FUTURE, a photographic performance project for Brussels by (Christophe Meierhans, Christoph Ragg and Heike Langsdorf)
With POSTCARDS FROM THE FUTURE a series of postcards is produced, each made from photographs shot in the city. The postcards are printed in sufficient amounts in order to be able to be freely distributed within various populations and publics of the city.
Each postcard in the series is linked to a singular performance that will take place in a public space, at the very same location where the picture on the postcard was shot. Date and time of the performance, as well as its exact address are printed on the postcard.
C&H has realised this project in smaller cities before (Geneva / Point d'impact - Leuven / STUK & M Museum - Metz / Centre Pompidou). The series for Brussels is considered to be a series of auto-portraits of Brussels, developed together with people living in different parts of the city.
TOUR DE FLAGEY is a performance-proposal by radical_hope for Postcards From The Future by C&H : Researching the principle of changeability, radical_hope invents instruments for Social Change in times without lead. The question is how a context can be touched from an artistic point of view without deminishing its natural complexity.
