radical_hope (since 2010) creates and holds frameworks for artistic research/es & co-creation/s.

radical_house (since 2020), next to being a long term project on notions of ownership, privacy and privilege, provides a physical place in Brussels: here people can tempralrily cohabit with the permanent users of the house in order to work, rest or find shelter.

Distraction As Discipline (2015 - 2019) is an investigation into enactivist principles in art and education (research trajectory at KASK School of Arts Ghent 2016-19). It considers the potential of performance art and pedagogy in general, in resisting the current and massive desubjectivation, by critically reclaiming both, attention for the moment and participation in a process.

OTÇOE - works for passers-by (2012 - 2014) was the development of radical_hope's artistic practice in the city and questioned how and by whom this practice (and its bodily, social and economical aspects) is perceived. The title refers to the public of a city and to how we encounter and register most things on our way through the city: Out of The Corner of Our Eyes. OTÇOE.

Strange Beds (working title) / April 10 - 25

Fransien Van Der Putt [NL] invites José Jesus [PT] for a residence at radical_house to collaborate and develop a practice of projecting images and words, to reflect and transport presences and absences. They will be working in and out of the rooms, in and around the house with shadows and projections, black and white, moving and still images, both day and night.

Working the natural framing of the spaces, looking for a dialog between shadows and projected light, attending to the idea of habitation, body and sequence. Within the urban context, moments of suspension are proposed, i. e. when the connection of time and space - punctum - is as important as action.

A work in progress open to visitors, working with natural and artificial light and shadows, going from shapes and shades during the day to artificial windows of light piercing the “closed down” environment of the residential area, during the nightshift. Staging context, opening up implicated bodies and buildings to each other, making the pre-existing, overlooked structures the canvas for an input of different rhythms, visual, architectural, fictional..

Fransien wants to merge sensibility with the concrete walls, reverse the views from balconies, while José strives for the contraction of meaning through the use of the architectural form itself.
