ABOUT THIS SITE >>> This site is a blog as well as an archive. It gives visibility to the continues working of radical_hope, its current move to radical_house, the research project Distraction As Discipline (2016 - 2019) and the process of OTÇOE - works for passers-by, a working trajectory (2013 and 2014).

radical_house is a long term project and has a threefold nature: it presents a physical place, a framework and a logic. When in 2013 teaching and mentoring became an extension of Langsdorf's artistic practices now radical_house stems from her pedagogical experience where 'being in dialogue' with others is her main principle.

Distraction As Discipline is an investigation into enactivist principles in art and education (research trajectory at KASK School of Arts Ghent 2016-19). It considers the potential of performance art and pedagogy in general, in resisting the current and massive desubjectivation, by critically reclaiming both, attention for the moment and participation in a process.

OTÇOE - works for passers-by was the development of radical_hope's artistic practice in the city and questioned how and by whom this practice (and its bodily, social and economical aspects) is perceived. The title refers to the public of a city and to how we encounter and register most things on our way through the city: Out of The Corner of Our Eyes. OTÇOE.

Inspired by Lisa Kudrow and Phoebe Buffay (character in Friends, the American sitcom)

La petite tarte avec tout ce qui bouge, s’il vous plait…
The little pie with all that moves on top, please…

lamps on or lamps off in a small bakery
old ideas ever young

young
the shop is open
could we start thinking the truth in the dark?

give up the concept of light and the stage as its spot
where this light falls for us
maybe by now we know the dominant fist
of the making of finance, fluids, currents and mines

the moment of extinction a virus puts us in awe
no matter how sporty, intellectual or just cool
any type I can think of, jogging, writing, commenting
or just receiving and in deep hanging out…
all of them must have seen the jaws…

of a world where the need for social welfare
the need for truth speaking we seek as much
in the fields of arts as the fields of making state
conduct, free will and the theataaas we are
I walk out in the morning, just follow the sun
when I mind shifting moments, the way is never one

La petite tarte avec tout ce qui bouge, s’il vous plait…
The little pie with all that moves on top, please…

waiting in front of a small bakery
hearing the chatting behind me

I see
the owner got new lamps
for this tiny so tiny corner of the world

now I can enter, the installation is mine
its keeper more than polite,
as many sellers are almost seductively bright
maybe they just have more muse, sleep and time

I figure these days that they love when one buys
not only baguette, croissants and some bread
so I pick the smallest but loudest tartelette,
every week I fall for this artisan fake decor
confiserie schmack schmack

I guess what I hated so far now makes my days
as it seems to make another one’s too
he laughed and replied: c’est nous qui la bouge…
bon appétit et des sensations apaisantes dans ta gorge
translated he said: it’s us who move it…
good appetite and nice sensations in your throat

La petite tarte avec tout ce qui bouge, s’il vous plait…
The little pie with all that moves on top, please…

I’ll think when back to my playhouse seat
an old question is out loud!

what
can the world afford now
how to now mingle in da good old theataaas?

I’ll think of how we still follow rhythm, code and codex
styles, cultures, epochs
but maybe I am wrong, we might be nimbler at last,
less sluggish than old rams and other flocks

then we make happen in buildings we have
space for the learning of sense and thinking
as open queer choirs to come in ever more
movable modes of escaping to and fro,
and to here, where we can easily make much more space

I’ve always loved the free and protecting cases
church buildings stand to be and the sanctuaries
theataaas, and why not houses, can the same way stand free
I’ll pray for practices anchored in our harsh realities
they must enter the shade, hold many makers alive
‘nothing new in the west’ but that for change we need big time rest

La petite tarte avec tout ce qui bouge, s’il vous plait…
The little pie with all that moves on top, please…
