𓂅 FERMATA @ radical_hope_house 𓂅
Last year, radical_hope_house underwent >>> INTERVAL *: A much needed time to re-asses work intentions...
In 2026, we continue working with reduced speed and enjoy ourselves in a kind of >>> FERMATA **: We won't close our doors this year either, but we can't do any more than we did last year. We'll
stay where we are and dedicate our time to what's already happening –
and also to what's yet to come: the desire and the necessity of writing
an application for three more years of radical_house – and then working
with the corresponding financial resources in this context.
*
INTERVAL relates to the meaning of “difference in pitch between two tones” and considers a
change of tone being a change of content and sphere.
In music, FERMATA** relates to the meaning of “staying where one is at the moment and intuitively sensing how long the state can be maintained without further movements”.

𓂅 INTERVAL @ radical_hope_house 𓂅
radical_hope_house is taking a step back to focus on its core intention and strengthen
existing relationships. Over the next year, we’ll continue to host those people (and their
researches) with whom we are already in dialogue and go slower with engaging in projects with
new requests to create a more sustainable way of working. We want to thank
everyone for their support and understanding as we embrace this new curatorial
orientation.
INTERVAL* @radical_hope_house is a much needed time we want to make space for, in order to
re-focus on the intentions we have with our work and to ensure we have the needed resources to keep
moving forwards. In the coming year, we will reconnect with and through the questions that are the
foundation of our work:
While radical_hope holds frameworks for research/es and co-creation/s, radical_house, since 2020,
provides a physical space in Brussels. radical_house is explored as a relational tool researching on notions
of ownership, privacy and privilege. The house allows people to co-use it temporarily
and live alongside the permanent users of the house to work, rest or to find shelter.
For some years we have taken a loosely defined approach to curating, accommodating and facilitating the
shared use of radical_house.
Today we’ve come to realize that the way we currently operate is no
longer sustainable. The request for formal / informal mentoring, facilitation, hosting and mediation has
grown to the point that we are called to find a more stable and solid basis for our work. Without this change,
we risk becoming what we are trying to find alternatives for. Instead of letting turn radical_house into an
institutionalized organization exhausted by external demands, we want to remain and continue to become a
place where one can be with not only their current work, but also with other needs, like rest and reflection.
This means that for the coming year we do continue to host people (and their researches) with whom we
are already in dialogue, and go slower with investing into new dialogues / collaborations /
hosting requests -- in order to / until we can secure a more sustainable framework for our work and research.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have contributed to developing and sharing
knowledge through working at radical_house.

As we don’t want to turn entirely unapproachable during INTERVAL, we now already want to
thank all those who reach out to us during this time of transition, for their patience and
understanding as we redefine our curatorial direction.
